Good brisket north of the Mason-Dixon Line!

Bull Durham Texas BBQ – Route 202 - West Chester PA
Isn’t Bull Durham related to North Carolina? Regardless the brisket was good – not quite Luther’s (Houston TX) if you’ve been there, but better than any other brisket I’ve had up north.  I like my brisket lean and with good flavor and this hit the spot.

Overall Impressions:

Dining Atmosphere:  - Depends on the night.  Some nights have a DJ with country dancing.

Food Quality / Taste - Some good, some fair.

Would I go back: - Definitely

Best thing about it: - Brisket!

What I would want to change: - Sides – baked apple was bitter, maybe a regular salad or Caesar salad as  side choice.  Bread with more flavor.  Would love to see different types of side BBQ sauces.

Want to know more? We stopped around 8ish mid week and where surprised at the crowded parking lot.  We had no idea they would have country line dancing, which was entertaining to watch.  Evidently they have dancing several nights a week so if you want to give it a go or get some free lessons (line dancing, two step) check out their website. Dancing or not I’ll be back to get some more brisket.

Jersey shore to folks next door

Kooma - - Waterfront - Wilmington DE
Finally tried Kooma on the Wilmington water front Friday night for a friend's happy hour and then dinner.

Overall Impressions:

Dining Atmosphere:  - ok but a bit loud. Wide variety of folks - Jersey Shore to folks next door..

Food Quality / Taste - pretty good.

Would I go back: - Maybe

Best thing about it: - Contemporary - something different

What I would want to change: - parking (limited to small lot and street) and crowd after 9.

Good place for Happy Hour? -yes if your group is about 5-15 people.

More comments, thoughts and ramblings: The bar area in the back room was nice and spacious and generally a good place for a small group for happy hour. For dinner - we tried the edamame, chicken teriyaki, and sushi. Generally good flavor but the teriyaki was an odd presentation - two large slices of chicken that where maybe 3 x 5, which seemed to beg the question - why the chop sticks? I had visions of trying to pick it up and having it go flying across the table. Then of course there was the use of my old friend zucchini . Honestly I don't get everyones fascination with zucchini I always think it is a cheap filler.
